ICE HOTEL SWEDEN
The original ICEHOTEL, Sweden, was founded in 1989. It’s an art exhibition and hotel made of natural ice and snow from one of Europe’s last wild rivers, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle.Art. Nature. Simple. The walls, floors and ceilings of the hotel is a canvas of designers from all creative disciplines. The artists and art work vary from year to year, each rendition of the hotel presenting an ephemeral collection. The hotel melts and returns to Mother Nature in spring.
This hotel is a place that everybody would be able to visit at least once in a life.It is open during winter and melts in spring , anyway you can enjoy activities during summer time but as an ordinary hotel.
Coming back to the point......I always have been fascinated about " aurora borealis", so you can try it there.
You’ve probably seen films or photographs of the northern lights. How they dance across the sky, charging forward, recoiling, twisting, unrolling, flaring up, retreating, billowing out and suddenly fading away. All in a wash of yellows, greens, blues, reds and purples. It’s breathtaking. In real life it’s much better. You bundle up in the warmest winter gear possible, and proceed into the Nordic night, not far from the arctic circle. You’ve travelled a long way to see this. A little cold air isn’t about to stop you. The sky is so dark and so vast, it seems to draw you into its endlessness. Patience. Now there’s nothing more you can do.Northern Sweden is possibly the best place to see the northern lights, because it lies under the auroral oval and enjoys clear skies more often than many coastal regions. Here ICEHOTEL is the prime location for experiencing the aurora borealis, or northern lights.
Beside of this you have a lot of activities there like: ice sculpting, skiing ,snowmobile tours, hourseback riding tours and of course a Wilderness dinner Northern lights, star-gazing & delicious dining. In the comfort of a mini bus you travel to their secluded wilderness camp. While your wilderness chef prepares an elegant three-course dinner in the rustic cabin, the guide serves your welcome drinks. Far away from light pollution and city smog, the Polar sky shows off its panoramic, star-studded glory. At 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, you are located on 67th parallel, further north than Anchorage, Alaska and Nuuk, Greenland; and nearly 500 km north of Reykjavik, Iceland. Lay down on reindeer skins spread on the fluffy snow and gaze up at the sky. You learn facts and myths surrounding the northern lights, and identifying some of the star constellations of the Northern Hemisphere.Sample delectable local flavors with hand-picked beverages to match. Following dessert and coffee, you return to ICEHOTEL for the night.
Even you can get married! in their Ice Church, isn't it awesome???
